As many of you already know, it is believed that low levels of Taurine leads to a diagnosis of Dialated Cardiomyopathy 🏥
Taurine in both humans and dogs can be produced from other amino acids whereas cats 🐈 are unable to synthesize Taurine from other food ingredients 😿 and must get it from their diet 🥩
That said, dog breeds that are predisposed to DCM include Cocker Spaniels, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Newfoundlands, Saint Bernards, English Setters, Dalmatians, Portuguese Water Dogs, and English Bulldogs
Despite a raw fed diet typically having abundant amounts of Taurine, I still always make sure to include hearts when doing my personal homemade grinds for my animals 💞
